5:00 a.m. Easter morning finds me, on the elliptical. 20 minutes. :D Must've helped, because I didn't gain anything from that champagne brunch buffet.

Today, time only for 3 miles, but I finished in 27 minutes. 'Bout killed me, yes, but some progress regardless.

Just not sure I really care to work on distance right now. Sunday is the half marathon, and I really just want to finish - I know it'll be a nice (and challenging) run. Not sure after that if I'll do the half or full marathon in San Diego in June. Don't know. I just really don't feel like running distance right now.

I think there's a general running malaise settled over our area, I'm just not really quite into it versus what I'd planned to do. I talk myself out of runs too often! Especially speedwork, The running clubbers think I'm nuts because about the only good thing I'm doing is steady 20 milers, once about every three weeks, although I've followed/preceded that by blowing off a "regular" long run. I can't let myself think how time-consuming those runs are, I keep finding other things to do with the time (not always productive, either).

A half sounds like fun right now. Which race?

Isn't that odd? I wonder if that's the natural ebb and flow of running? I never thought I'd be so lackadaisical about it, but at this point I'm not sure if and when I want to run distance again. I talk myself out of runs a lot, and I really DON'T want to do long runs at all. The main reason I'm running now is for the weight, not for running, or speed, or distance. AT LEAST you are still doing 20 milers - that's amazing! How are those going with a decrease in regular daily mileage? My regular daily mileage is so slow, now, it's unbelievable that I've regressed by about a year and a half.

A Run Through Redlands - the first half is major hills, second half all down. I'm totally just running it for fun, and to get my butt out the door! No distance training, no hill training. But still, I think it will be nice. I think all my time goals are down the toilet for now, and I want to just run races for the fun of it. How odd, I never thought I'd say that, ever.

You'd probably do great at the Redlands half right now, if you're still doing 20 milers! You still training for LA in May?
